TIPS & TOOLS FOR CURLS

Updated: Nov 20, 2019

If there is one thing I love the most -- it is curling my hair. For some reason whenever my hair is curled I feel so much better & put together! I have finally found a specific way that I curl my hair & little tricks that I love to use. I have also used many tools over the years and have found my all time favorites.

TIPS

1- WAIT 10-15 MINUTES

If you start messing with your curls as soon as you finish curling them, they will most likely fall out and not last as long. Your curls are super hot once you let them go, they need to COOL down first. I wait about 10-15 minutes after I finish my whole head to put any products at all in or brush them out the way I like. By the time the 10 minutes is up, the curls have cooled off completely.

2- DONT BRUSH ALL THE WAY THROUGH

This tip really helps as well. I shared a tutorial on my "hair" highlight on Instagram what I mean by this tip if you want a visual. However, I brush the curls in two separate parts. First, I brush the roots of my hair just to blend the top all together, instead of the curls being visually separated. Then, I gently brush the ends together. I feel like if you brush straight through from top to bottom the curls will most likely unravel quicker.

3- SPRAY A LITTLE HAIRSPRAY BEFORE & THEN THE REST ONCE ITS STYLED

Once the 10 minutes are up I spray just a little hairspray and then I fix the curls the way I want them to look for the day. Once I have the curls and volume I like and want, then I go in and spray a heck ton of hair spray. I don't spray a lot of hairspray in the beginning because I don't want the hairspray holding that "look". I want the hairspray to hold the "look" once its finished. Thats why I style it first and then spray a lot of hairspray... that way it holds in place what I've created.

4- SCRUNCH UP YOUR CURL IN YOUR HAND BEFORE LETTING GO OF IT

Before I let go of my curl, I unravel it into my hand and kind of scrunch it there before I let the curl go completely. That way it has a little time to stay in its tight curled position. When you let it go after that its more bouncy and curled.
